Social Media Graphics

Garden State Equality

Much of my work with Garden State Equality involves graphic design, whether for social media, member emails, or print publications. Regardless of the nature of the final product, I create dynamic content that retains brand consistency while remaining visually interesting.

General Social Media

Signature Event: Equality in Motion

Equality in Motion, Garden State Equality's largest annual community fundraising event, generally consists of five events across New Jersey that take place over a week. In promoting Equality in Motion 2025, I used the existing event branding to create templates for batch production of social media graphics.

Website Rebuild & CRM Migration

Garden State Equality

Using the organization’s existing branding guidelines and working closely with the executive director and staff, I built a website for New Jersey's leading LGBTQ+ advocacy and education organization in WordPress. We focused on making the website more visually engaging, highlighting Garden State Equality’s key programs and events, and ensuring critical information was at community members’ fingertips.

At the same time as the website rebuild, I managed Garden State Equality’s CRM migration from NationBuilder to EveryAction, which has allowed the organization to reach members more effectively and streamline the donor engagement process.

I continue to manage Garden State Equality's website and CRM.

Jersey for Trans Healthcare

Garden State Equality

This ongoing campaign engages trans and allied community members in New Jersey to contact their state legislators, with the goal of passing a package of bills that would protect trans healthcare and reproductive healthcare in the state. I developed a distinct brand identity and created a wide range of assets for the campaign. Garden State Equality staff members have also used the branding to create their own assets for the campaign.

Branding

Because the Jersey for Trans Healthcare campaign is a coalition effort, it was necessary to create a separate brand identity for it. I created a vibrant color scheme based on the trans flag, and picked a font that would be highly legible on screens as well as on collateral like protest signs.

Website

I was asked to create an engaging one-page website that informed the public about the urgency of passing the bill package to protect trans healthcare in New Jersey, allowed trans community members to share their stories, and—most importantly—mobilized people to contact their legislators.

Collateral

Materials I created for the Jersey for Trans Healthcare campaign included social media graphics and protest signs. Other Garden State Equality staff have also used the Jersey for Trans Healthcare brand kit in Canva to create graphics related to the campaign.

Website & Branding Overhaul

Equality North Carolina

Websites

The nation's oldest state-level LGBTQ+ advocacy organization brought me on to overhaul their network of websites, migrate them to a more modern platform, and update the look and feel. I built out a WordPress multisite network for Equality NC's three affiliated organizations (Equality NC, the 501(c)(4) arm; Equality NC Foundation, the 501(c)(3) arm; and Equality NC Action Fund PAC). Staff can now edit all three websites using the same backend and optionally distribute content across multiple sites in the network.

Branding

I later worked with Equality NC's then-Director of Communications to refresh the organizations' branding, with an emphasis on allowing each organization to have a distinct visual identity while retaining consistency. Using the fonts chosen by Equality NC staff, I designed new logos that retained a similar look to the old ones, but were more uniform.

Social Media Graphics

Equality Federation

While Equality Federation was between communications managers, I supported their digital communications by designing graphics for their social media accounts using their existing brand guidelines.
(These Instagram graphics are from 2023, which is why they are square rather than using Instagram's current preferred 4:5 aspect ratio.)

Inclusive Golf Manor

Equality Ohio

In January 2020, the village of Golf Manor, OH passsed an LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination ordinance. Later that year, opponents of the ordinance successfully collected enough signatures from community members to put the ordinance on the ballot for the general election that year. Equality Ohio hired me to create branding, assets, and a website for the Inclusive Golf Manor PAC's Yes on 10 campaign. In November 2020, the ballot measure passed with an overhwleming 74% of the vote.

Branding

In order to ensure that anyone scrolling past a graphic or walking past a yard sign would immediately understand the gist of the campaign, the visual identity I created was very simple, with one color other than black and white and a bold, impactful logo based on the font the campaign was already using when I came on board. The addition of a ballot bubble motif added visual interest while still keeping the look clean and uncomplicated.

Website

The Inclusive Golf Manor website needed to house a fair amount of information while still keeping everything clear. In particular, given that the main objections to the village's nondiscrimination ordinance were related to religious freedom, it was important that the website contained detailed information on how the ordinance already protected religious freedom. The final version of the website contained five pages that outlined the facts about the ordinance, the ballot language, religious freedom information, and statements of support from local leaders.

Collateral

The majority of activity around the Yes on 10 campaign was on the ground in Golf Manor. Accordingly, most of the materials I created were for use by staff and volunteers canvassing the village, such as yard signs, T-shirts, door hangers, and postcards.
